Civil associations, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions and human rights defenders have condemned the murder of activist Abiram Hernández Fernández.
The 37-year-old activist, Abiram Hernández Fernández, was killed by a blow to the head. The attack took place at his home, where his body was found at dawn on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
Abiram Hernández was a lawyer and psychologist and was known in Veracruz for his constant support to the families of missing persons in the state, as well as for his steadfast defence of human rights.
Abiram was found in the living room of his home by his brother when he arrived at the house located in the colony Arboledas del Sumidero, in Xalapa. According to information from ministerial sources, the attacker of the ex-member of the Colectivo Por La Paz in Xalapa broke into the house through a rear bedroom window.
Abiram’s death caused great anger among groups working for missing persons, who have issued an appeal on Twitter demanding justice including Colectivo Solecito, which on March 26 found 298 bodies in a grave in Veracruz.
