Authorities confirmed that on Sunday 26 August 2018 in the middle of the voting day for the Anti-Corruption Consultation, in the municipality of Lejanías, in the Meta, José Pineda, prosecutor of the Community Action Board of Yucape was murdered.
The Secretary of Government of Meta condemned this act and asked the authorities to locate those responsible. « We urge the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office to carry out all the necessary investigative work to identify the material and intellectual authors of this crime that leaves Mr. Pineda dead, » the official said.
On the other hand, Jaime Gutiérrez, promoter and defender of human rights, once again called on the National Government to take concrete actions to ensure the safety of leaders throughout the country.
