The LGBTI + National Alliance issued a statement on Sunday calling for a thorough investigation into the death of 34-year-old LGBTI + activist Leo Antonio Michels Ostrovski. He was shot dead in Curitiba last Friday 11 October.
Leo was a well known activist involved in the LGBTI + cause and was one of the National Alliance’s key lobbyists working with the corporate sector. He founded some working groups in the capital of Parana, to help companies to work together to promote safe and inclusive workplaces where everyone can fully realize their potential.
Leo was shot dead at the gate of his building in downtown Curitiba after he went down to get a food delivery.
He was found dead, standing, propped against the garage wall and holding his ID. According to witnesses, two men on a motorcycle, carrying a food delivery backpack, fired about three shots and fled the scene.
The fact that he was found holding a pen and his id and with the house lights on all suggest that he was expecting a food delivery. All the evidence so far points to a targeted killing.
