Pedro Vielma, was a spokesperson of “Consejo de Productores Socialistas Los Lanceros de la Pascualina de Zamora” located in the state of Barinas. He, and two other community leaders (Reyes Orlando Parra Delgado and Ramón Rosário) were kidnapped and murdered, on 02 August 2018, after a meeting with the current President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
According to the news agency called “Tele Sur” the crime happened after an order had been issued, regarding the “campesinos” returning to their lands, which had been granted to them during the Hugo Chavez government.
Sources affirm that the leaders reported to the authorities threats that they had received.
Ricardo Mora, who claims ownership of the lands, is presumed as the intellectual architect of the crime. The lands have been taken from the campesinos, by wealthy landowners, who have agrarian interests.
Ricardo and the two suspected hitmen, including Gustavo Carrillo, were arrested shortly afterwards, according to the new agency « Venezuelanalysis ».
