Teylor Cruz Gil was president of the Junta dse Accion Comunal (Community Action Board), in the community of La Cantaleta of Caceres, Antioquia.
On 13 May, 2020, Teylor was at home in the village of Puerto Bélgica when two men travelling on a motorcycle pulled up at his house. They shot him multiple times and left him dead on the footpath outside his house.
It is believed that the killing was carried out be members of armed criminal group, Los Caparros; There is an ongoing turf war between Los Caparros and the Clan del Golfo which has resulted in 40 killings in the first 6 months of 2020.
