Héctor Santiago Anteliz

Héctor Santiago Anteliz, 52, served as director of the Community Action Board in Teorama, Norte de Santander. According to the newspaper, La Opinión de Cúcuta, strangers arrived at his residence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018. His body was found by acquaintances the following day, at the foot of the road that leads to the corregimiento of San Pablo.

Héctor Anteliz was a respected member of his community, he promoted projects for the improvement of the quality of life of his neighbours in the village of San José. In addition, he actively supported community development projects.The authorities stated that this killing occurred in the context of the clashes between the ELN and the EPL in the Catatumbo region, as reported by Caracol Radio.

Following the murder of Héctor Santiago, there were statements condemning the killing by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, Mr Joseph Merckx, representative of the organization.
